A peer reviewed paper was published in the journal Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences on the Brumadinho tailings dam disaster which occurred on 25 January 2019 in Brazil. The paper details HR Wallingford’s work in using the Life Safety Model to assess the amount of warning time which would have been required to significantly reduce the loss of life.
